VHS, Bilingual Business & Finance Academy
The Bilingual Business and Finance Academy is a three-year (grades 10-12) school-within-a-school program for students who are motivated to begin pursuing their educational and career goals. As a member of a committed group of students and teachers, they receive the support and directions they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

Through School-to-Career activities, BBFA students are exposed to a variety of careers in the business world: financial advisor, accountant, banker, entrepreneur, computer specialist, CEO, etc. Although our emphasis is on business and technology, we encourage students to pursue careers that meet their individual interests. The foreign language skills BBFA students acquire will make them more marketable in whatever career they choose. Venice High School offers the following languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Lain, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Russian.

Completion of BBFA curriculum will insure that minimum UC and CSU course requirements have been met. We attempt to motivate students to continue their education by providing college speakers, tours, fairs and research projects, and by encouraging them to take college entrance exams.

The BBFA is supported by a California Partnership Academy grant and Qualified Zones and Academy Bonds grant, allowing us to provide extra personnel, field trips, state-of-the-art technology, and staff training. In addition, we are fortunate to have the support of local businesses, colleges, and nonprofit agencies, including Creative Artists Agency, KMEX-TV, Occidental Petroleum, Washington Mutual, Santa Monica College, West L. A. College, and Communities in Schools.

In order to be eligible for entrances into BBFA, students must express a desire to make a difference in their educational experience and go beyond the basic high school graduation requirements. They need to have at least 55 credits and satisfactory grades at the end of the 9th grade. They must maintain a C-average in Academy classes and stay on grade level each year in order to stay in the program.
